GOLD is the color of the ribbon that represents ALL TYPES OF PEDIATRIC CANCERS that children are fighting. The GOLD RIBBON represents not a single type of cancer, but an entire population of young people that desperately need our VOICES and SUPPORT. While most people know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, they may not know that SEPTEMBER IS PEDIATRIC CANCER AWARENESS MONTH.
A GOLD OUT is a fun, amazing way for folks to get together and simply GO GOLD and we’ve got the resources to HELP! So get ready.. get set.. BE BOLD ~ ROCK THE GOLD!
YES… it’s really that EASY!
Just “Think Pink” … then GO GOLD and watch the LOVE GROW.
HOPE FOR CHILDHOOD CANCER began because KIDS WANTED TO HELP KIDS WITH CANCER and so they did! There is almost nothing as inspiring and encouraging as to see young people on fire and UNITED for a common goal of HOPE.
According to the National Cancer Institute, PEDIATRIC CANCER is the NUMBER ONE KILLER of children as compared to other diseases like COMBINED and yet… sadly, they only give a mere 3.8% of their cancer research funds to HELP SAVE THEIR LIVES.
Another large cancer society in America gives less than 1%… LESS THAN A PENNY OF EVERY DOLLAR RAISED for LIFE-SAVING cancer research is given to help babies, kids and teens. YES.. this is a truly SAD REALITY… but so is HOPE.
Pediatric cancer research is HEAVILY UNDERFUNDED and it’s simply UNACCEPTABLE. It’s time for CHANGE. The future of our children depends upon it!
KIDS ARE DYING while major drug companies REFUSE TO GIVE as much to FUND pediatric cancer research because CHILDREN aren’t the most MARKETABLE or PROFITABLE group they target. Our babies NEED our helping hands, hearts and voices to UNIFY on their behalf.
This effort is already going VIRAL among our YOUTH and that’s a very good thing!! Seeing the UNITY in groups going GOLD on behalf of a population that without our voices of advocacy HAVE NO VOICE… is the kind of GROWING EPIDEMIC of POSITIVITIY that is already SPREADING AWARENESS and SAVING LIVES.
Seeing workplaces, communities, landmarks, corporate volunteer efforts, youth groups, fire departments, police departments, and yes.. even Democrats and Republicans and other political parties COMING TOGETHER on behalf of kids with cancer is HOPEFUL to say the least.
But it all has to start somewhere…
